While there is an initial investment, it’s offset by a dramatically reduced risk of disaster and a more secure long-term income - with financial support available in many federal German states, as well as in other jurisdictions around the world.

Case study:
Forest conversion project in Wendland

Conversion of a 10-hectare forest area. Strip preparation with TTS equipment, followed by sowing of coated seeds by hand. The target stocking is 1,800.

Soil type: Podzol, sand

Old-growth canopy: GKi100 (common pine)

Species sown: Red oak, Douglas fir, coastal fir, silver fir and mountain ash

Success per hectare

After one year: 3,400-4,200 seedlings per hectare counted.

Oak: 2.200 - 2.700

Douglas fir: 410 - 520

Mountain ash: 390 - 490
